Hello
I'm Jacqueline, a writer and editor
Based in the Washington, D.C. area., I currently work as assistant editor for the award-winning School Administrator magazine. This job allows me to explore my multiple career interests; I'm passionate about both education and journalism. Several issues I have planned have won various awards. But I have also covered topics like religion, food, community, culture and more.

My education at the highly ranked Philip Merrill College of Journalism prepared me for so many different aspects of my career. I also received my Master's Degree in education from the University of Maryland, earning my teaching certification while completing a one-year student teaching internship.

As a staff writer for Washington Jewish Week, I enjoyed reporting on local events, meeting many people and finding new coverage angles. I particularly appreciated working on feature articles that dove deeply into a unique topic or people's experiences. One of my stories, which detailed three women's journeys through Judaism, won a 2nd place MDDC Press Award for religion reporting.

My internship with WAMU 88.5 allowed me to explore audio, a medium I value and really enjoy working with. I gained valuable experience in editing audio, brainstorming ideas for podcasts and producing news segments.

I have a curious mind and an eagerness to inform others through my writing. One think I like most about journalism is that storytelling lifts up the voices in underrepresented communities — not only validating people in those communities, but also educating the people around them.

Please reach out to me; I'd love to connect with you.
