Journalism Experience

June 2024 - Present

Assistant Editor

School Administrator magazine

AASA, the American Superintendents' Association

My role at the magazine has expanded to include more responsibility, including planning three to four issues per year, managing the hiring process for Conference Daily Online interns and creating ad promotions for potential advertisers.

I am still the managing editor for Conference Daily Online, which will be an expanded role as well this year to include more oversight over videography and social media promotion of content.

March 2020 - Present

Senior Editorial Assistant

School Administrator magazine

AASA, the American Superintendents' Association

Alexandria, Va./Remote

In this role, I acted as assignment editor twice per year to research and plan theme issues. At AASA's annual National Conference on Education, I have been managing editor for Conference Daily Online since 2022 and a reporter once (during the 2021 virtual conference).

My regular duties included editing and writing magazine copy, managing the semiannual book reviewing process, sending monthly newsletters and posting two digital editions online.

June 2019 - February 2020

Staff Writer

Washington Jewish Week

Mid-Atlantic Media

Rockville, Md.

As a staff writer, I wrote multiple news and features stories every week covering the Jewish community in the D.C.-Maryland-Virginia area. One of my features received a 2nd place award in Division E for Religion Reporting from the MDDC Press Association.

I developed relationships with sources, pitched story ideas, uploaded content to the website and wrote social media posts daily and worked with the editorial team to explore new types of content.

August 2014 - May 2018

Editor-in-chief, two years

Opinion editor, two years

Mitzpeh

Maryland Media, Incorporated

College Park, Md.

During my time as editor-in-chief, I redesigned the Mitzpeh website and managed the staff and freelancers. I led weekly meetings, edited, assigned and wrote articles and published online content. As opinion editor, I designed and edited my section and assisted the publication's transition to an online-only outlet.

I was also a voting member on the Maryland Media board, which owns MitzpehThe Diamondback and Terrapin Yearbook.

January 2018 - April 2018

Intern

The Big Listen

WAMU 88.5

Washington, D.C.

My experience at WAMU 88.5 allowed me to explore radio and audio as a medium more thoroughly than I did in school. I loved working with audio and was responsible for managing social media accounts, editing and cutting podcast episodes in Adobe Audition and contributing ideas for coverage on the podcast. I also produced one segment called "Wait, What?".

While I was there, The Big Listen was canceled. I spent time working with my supervisors to research new podcast possibilities and then spent time on the team of The Kojo Nnamdi Show, where I produced two segments covering local news and line produced one of these.
