Past Work & Awards
Senior editorial assistant, School Administrator, AASA
Part of my job at School Administrator is to act as assignment editor for two issues per year. This responsibility means researching the issue's topic heavily, interviewing experts in the field as potential authors, planning the content for the feature lineup, crafting assignment memos and reviewing submitted articles for content. The March 2021 issue on racial equity in schools won multiple awards:
-
AM&P Network: Gold EXCEL Award for Single Topic Issue in the 10,001 to 20,000 category.
-
National School Public Relations Association: Award of Merit, magazine category.

Staff writer, Washington Jewish Week
As a reporter for Washington Jewish Week, I wrote several news and feature articles per week for the print and online editions. This feature explored three women's journeys toward their Jewish identities. The article won the second place award for religion reporting, Division E, in the 2019 MDDC Press Association Awards.

Managing editor, Conference Daily Online, AASA
During AASA's National Conference on Education, we run a daily onsite publication that covers everything from roundtable sessions and exhibitors to lectures and keynotes. Since 2022, my role has been managing editor for the publication. Being in charge of all photography selection, website and newsletter management and leading the photography staff has been a great experience in a fast-paced environment. In 2021, during our virtual conference, I acted as a reporter. Conference Daily Online has won multiple awards in the last few years:
-
National School Public Relations Association: Award of Excellence, 2022 edition, electronic newsletter category; Award of Excellence, 2021 edition, electronic newsletter category
-
AM&P Network: Gold EXCEL Award, 2021 edition, onsite convention daily category; Gold EXCEL Award, 2022 edition, onsite convention daily category
Senior editorial assistant, School Administrator, AASA
Another issue I planned as assignment editor, the November 2022 issue on social media and school culture hit a hot topic for educators. We highlighted many perspectives, from superintendents to a doctor, from a principal to a student member of the board. This issue received an Award of Excellence in APEX 2023, the Awards for Publication Excellence from Communications Concepts.

Staff writer, Washington Jewish Week
I pitched this story while at Washington Jewish Week because having expertise in the education field, I wanted to expand my reporting experience in that area. To write this piece, I visited many schools and spoke to a variety of educators and experts on the topic.
Managing editor, Conference Daily Online, AASA
During AASA's 2022 National Conference on Education, I acted as managing editor for Conference Daily Online. My duties included uploading content daily, choosing photographs for the website, putting together the daily newsletter, working with interns and reporting. I wrote this feature story on the conference's large exhibit hall for the publication.
Senior editorial assistant, School Administrator, AASA
Several times a year, I write profiles of superintendents for School Administrator magazine. This one stuck out to me because of the brightness and tenacity of Noreen Bush's spirit. Unfortunately, since writing this profile, Bush died of cervical cancer -- something we had discussed during our interview.
The Kojo Nnamdi Show
Intern, WAMU 88.5
After most of my internship with WAMU 88.5's The Big Listen had elapsed, the show got canceled. My supervisors and I spent a couple weeks researching ideas for new shows, and then I got transferred to the team of The Kojo Nnamdi Show, a daily news show. During my two weeks there, I had the opportunity to produce two segments (one on lowering the voting age in D.C. and the other on food truck regulations in the District). This process included researching, pre-interviewing sources, scheduling guests and writing host scripts.
Staff writer, Washington Jewish Week
Part of what I love about journalism is storytelling. Getting to know people, helping them feel validated and educating others about their communities. Working on this story allowed me to hear and tell some very interesting and personal stories.
Staff writer, Washington Jewish Week
This local news story is an example of writing about something impactful to the community. I enjoy work like this and have experience writing multiple news stories per week.
Staff writer, Washington Jewish Week
As a theatre lover, language enthusiast and writer, this story was particularly interesting to me. I explored the many ways in which Yiddish was rising up in the Jewish community. I also learned a lot while researching the language's history and impact.
